  confidence

Let’s start off by saying that I’ve always been an `A` student since Kindergarten, and that I’ve been working my way up since. All my life I’ve felt unsatisfied with grades that are below 90%. Being that I set such high expectations from myself and what I have to deal with, I get the best of my life and education. And when I live up to my standards, life’s a breeze, and things are much more enjoyable. I would have to say that my education and family are the most important things to me. The two get me to where I am today. I’m very thankful that nothing has gone wrong. Some things I just have to deal with, and some things I can make so much better. As for right now, things are perfectly fine.

One goal that I’ve accomplished is creating myself to be a World Class Citizen. To do this, I keep family and friends in mind, I do my best to get grades 95% and above, I stay involved with school and the community, and lastly, I care about myself before anything else. A hard obstacle that I’ve had to overcome is asserting myself. It’s easy for me to let people step all over me. I may do this often, but when it comes time to step up to the plate and shine, I do it better than anything. When I want to get something done, or have a goal that I’ve been dreaming to reach, I work till I get it and remember to NEVER GIVE UP, AND NEVER GIVE IN. I love to act as a leader, and more importantly, a role model. I feel happy whenever peers look up to me and actually show it. I love to help out and do what I love to do best! I also try to keep life enjoyable, and keep my head up all the time. As one teacher told my mom and I, “Nothing can bring this girl down.” I feel so touched by that. This is one accomplishment that I’ve worked to achieve. Creating myself to be who I want to be.

The second thing that I’ve accomplished is committing to what I say I’m going to do. I hate to let people down. Honestly, it makes me feel really bad. On the contrary, if a person shows that they don’t deserve my work, I SLACK! When I feel that a person has faith in me to do something, I feel good inside. It gives me a boost to do the job and go over the top with it. Over all, I believe I can do anything. Furthermore, I know I can! :) It’s like the 5 qualities of NJHS. Scholarship, Leadership, Character, Citizenship, and Service. I give major props to Mrs. M. Borja for telling us that “We’re here not to be at the top looking down, but at the bottom doing things to improve it all and work our way to the top.” That’s when the job is done.

All in all, I love all that I am. I may not be the most popular, I may not be great at ever single thing, but I can work to be my best. Anyone and everyone should believe in themselves, and have a high self-esteem. Work to be your best. Believe in yourself. And, GOT FOR IT. This is what I learned about life. This is what I learned about myself. Life has crazy games. I keep my head up, my heart up, and stay HEADSTRONG!

Journal Entry #21: Memories from 3 years ago to my present experiences.

asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfsdf.jpg

You want me to compare my 6th grade year to now? What a ride it has been. From reaching my goals and achieving my dreams, to experiencing new and exciting things. All I know is that life will never be the same without memories. Moreover, I can’t live without recalling the good times that I’ve had. So, I guess I would enjoy this essay. Furthermore, it will help me remember the things I’ve been through. Everyone has a past, and knows that life goes on. I’m glad that this will help me look back at those times.

My 6th grade year is similar to now in ways that I think. I’ve always been independant. As well as being a leader to my fellow classmates. Also, I’ve enjoyed life since then until now. I’m still in the same school. I’m still in classes with some of the same people. And, I love almost every minute of it. I’ve taken all the things that I’ve learned into my head, and applied it to my studies, and more importantly, my everyday life. Since 6th grade, I’ve been extremely thankful for all that has happened to me. In other words, my performing goals. I’ve finally sung in front of crowds that I’ve never thought would be before my eyes. I’ve danced and entertained to the best of my ability. I’m still doing all of this up until now! It’s such an exciting thing. I’ve been suprisingly keeping my grades up as well. Most students lag through their middle school years. As for me, my grades keep getting higher and higher. Likewise with my school involvement. I’m still involved in the things that I love and have accomplished since my 6th grade year. I’m just so grateful for all of this, and I never want it to end.

Hmmm. Things that are different about now. I would have to say that I’m way more involved. I also have a lot more friends. Thus, a much bigger variety, which I’m very proud of. School is much more exciting than 6th, and 7th grade. I’m heading for bigger, and better things. Another thing that’s different is my attitude, and a little of the way I look at things. I’ve definitely matured and have opened my true self up for the world to see! And I’m glad that they’ve seen it, but they haven’t seen it all. I really love who I am now than before. There was always something holding me back, but now I’m really shining through. I finally created who I want to be forever. For instance, my sense of style. It’s kind of a chic, fashionista, cute, but simple-dance choreographer type. As well as my thinking, which is faster and smarter. I’m open to do greater things. Like speaking my mind, asserting myself, and finally learning about the real world, and real people!

Not much has changed. But then again, so much has changed when it comes to my feelings. I absolutely love my life. If it were to change, it would have to be in a positive way. I know not to do negative things when dealing with the real world. I’m going to keep working to accomplish myself, and my life. It’s great to me, and almost everything is just PERFECT! I feel so fortunate to be where I am today. I absolutely thank my friends, family, and teachers for guiding me every step of the way. As a result, I’m the person I want and need to be. But sometimes, I feel that I could take on someone even MORE!

Two Girls; What about them? I can tell you a bit…

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 3:47 pm on Friday, April 4, 2008

                    ERin                                             Christiana

Do you happen to know Erin D. and Christiana W from L.P. UMS? If so, how well? Here I will tell you ways they are alike, and ways that they are different. These are two wonderful girls who have alot to them. I’ve asked them some questions to get to know them a little better.

First I’ll give you some facts on how they are alike. For instance, they both enjoy sports, but which one’s in particular? Erin refreshes with swimming, and was apart of the Tarakito Swim Club, but Christiana takes interest in Volleyball and has played for the UMS Wildcats. These two girls enjoy talking, as well. Also on their list is the keyboard! Erin plays the keyboard, and Christiana probably just likes the pleasant sound. It’s a pretty fun instrument. When it comes to designs, polka dots are the way to go for these two. Polka dots are a cute touch to almost everything. Lastly, what a coincidence! They both have wavy hair. How edgy!

After all those facts on how they are alike, I’ll tell you the many differences they have. Erin’s favorite brand is Banana Republicâ„¢. Christiana, on the other hand, likes the ever adorable Hello Kittyâ„¢. When it comes to food, Erin’s taste buds are open to try new flavors. On the contrary, Christiana tangos with Italian cuisine. The two girls both live on Guam, but where? Erin resides in MongMong, which is central Guam; however, Christiana lives in Dededo, which is way up north. Almost everyone has a favorite place. These two worlds diverge in different countries. As for Erin, she longs to catch a glimpse of New York, but Christiana would say Saianara anytime and fly to Japan. One last thing that can bring out one’s self is their music style. Erin’s favorite song is “Cry” by Xavier. Yet, Christiana finds harmony in the song “Without Love” from the movie and soundtrack Hairspray.

You can say the two of them are pretty exotic. I think so. Even though I have a bunch of facts, there’s still so much more they have to them that make them great people and more importantly, FRIENDS! I got a lot of personality from these little details. They’re typical teenage girls living their lives on the beautiful island of Guam, just being themselves!

Journal Entry #20: Evaluating My Classmates’ Presentations

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 11:46 pm on Monday, March 31, 2008

My classmates’ presentations were pretty good. After all, they were extra credit! The presentations were factual, informational, and helpful. Some had appealing pictures as well. The topics of the presentations kept me curious because I never thought about researching them while I was dying to know more about them. I liked the way most of them presented because some of them exaggerated their phrases to keep me listening. A few of the shows were inspirational in terms of karma and animals! I really enjoyed almost every second of the presentations! I know I could’ve improved mine a little more.
An excellent presentation should have a great speaker who keeps some eye contact with their audience. It should have a them with many facts and photos that entertain and catch one’s eye. The information should make sense, and more importantly the speaker should know what they’re talking about. The crowd should see why the presenter chose that certain topic, and know that they’re happy about doing that topic. One last thing a speaker should do is stick with their topic and not get carried away into something silly, and stay FOCUSED!

Journal Entry #18: My Handheld Experience!

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 3:07 am on Monday, March 24, 2008

I had a wonderful time using the handhelds. It was enjoyable and benefficial at the same time because it made my essays and journal entries easier by typing, writing, or pressing it in, and also fun because of the many things you can do in the handheld. I enjoyed giraffe, text twist, making quizzes, and so much more. It was interesting to find out that you can put these things into a desktop computer, and also that you can download fun games into the handheld. It’s pretty much like a desktop computer, but without a mouse and has different programs representing the desktop’s “Microsoft Office.”     Using the handheld was fun, all in all. It was a big help. Except for when it came to blogging. It would have been if we had the Internet card. I like using the handhelds. There’s barely any other way to make the experience better besides an Internet card. I would’nt mind working with one any day!

Journal #19: Research Project Update

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 7:35 pm on Friday, March 21, 2008

I have researched my project using the internet and some of the knowledge the I have gained on my own from my past experiences. There weren’t many useful websites that gave out information on dancing. So I had to depend on what I know and websites like Wikipedia, Answers.com, and other search engines giving me little detail. It was getting kind of complicated and annoying! All in all, my brain was hurting, but I know I have to get it done, and I will. I think I should’ve chosen another topic, or narrowed “dancing” down a bit more. I was looking forward to the Power Point Presentation, which I have already completed, which is great because it is EXTRA CREDIT!

Some of the interesting information that I found and already know is the life of the average dancer. In my case I had been through it all. It was such hard work, but it pays off in the end. I’m glad I researched on it again. Also how much time and energy it takes up, and the breakouts I got everyday! Dancing is a completely stressful process. Even that dancing is used to express many things. It could tell a story, or express an emotion, or you could just do it for fun and entertainment!

My difficulties were pretty much explained in the first paragraph, since I had to get it out. But towards the middle of the project I was getting disappointed and uninterested because of the things that needed to go into the essay, which added to my stress. It’s okay though because I know I have a habit of trying to perfect everything and making things harder than they really are. I know I can get it done, because I always do! But that’s the way I am, and I think it’s a good thing. The transitional phrases in the paragraphs were a stress, as well as, the bibliography, and the tests we’ve been getting and upcoming exams for my three other classes. The project will be FUN though!

Recycling in Our World

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 5:18 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2008

In this write-up, you will learn what my classmates and I know about recycling, what we want to know, and what we have learned. I hope it will make you think twice about our environment, and reducing, reusing, and recycling to help us in our daily lives.
I know that there are many little ways to recycle that make big differences. Many of my classmates know that recycling helps our environment, but can also destroy the atmoshphere when burning or melting. All in all, recycling is a benefit in this world!
I want to know if there are more ways for recyling to affect the environment. As for the class, we want to know more ways to recycle, and the many things that it could do.
I, and I’m sure my class, has learned that repairing and shaping up things can extend its life. Also, about reusing certain things a few times more to make a difference. For example, reusing boxes, newspapers, metal, etc. Another thing that’s great is putting left over, biodegradeable things into a compost pile for soil in gardens! Used auto parts can also be sold, as well as other merchandise for others to use, that have once belonged to people who have no need with it.
Recycling helps in many ways. Although there are some unbenefficial things, recycling is GREAT, it can help us and out world become a better and safer place.

My Cyber~bullying Research Guide

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 4:02 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2008

What is cyber-bullying? This will tell you what it is, the dangers of what it can do and how. It’s important to know. Especially if you know anyone who is a part of a social network, or likes to instant message. This can also take place through e-mails. So read on to find out more about cyber-bullying!

Cyber-bullying is when threats are made towards people online. Either through social networks like MySpace or Facebook, instant messengers, or e-mails.Text messaging with cell phones is also included. According to Wikipedia, cyber-bullying is willful and involves recurring or repeated harm inflicted through the medium of electronic text.

Cyber-bullying can hurt people in so many ways. It can lead to serious issues, and maybe death. It can get the government involved, sometimes up to the point where they bring up the rights in the Constitution of the United States, just as in the article “Online Bullying Compels States to Act”.

Cyber-bullying can be prevented, as mentioned in “Cyber-bullying Compels States to Act”, by implementing rules or laws at home, at school, and even worldwide. After the laws are heard of, parents, teachers, or responsible adults can talk to youth and one another about the dangers of cyber-bullying. Another thing is putting up block programs in computers or any other kind of technology having to do with communicating with people.

Some of the most interesting things that I have learned about cyber-bullying is that it can lead to one of the worst things ever, like death! Also that there are people who really don’t care about the situation and just try to make it worse. It can start many emotions, fights, and can get the government involved! So act now, and spread the word that cyber-bullying is not right. You’ll never know that if you don’t take the details of cyber-bullying into your hands as soon as possible, it can happen to you.

Journal #17: My New Year’s Resolutions

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 11:44 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2008

Here it is! It’s time to take on 2008, and make it worthwhile. I want to make my life much more enjoyable. How? New Year’s Resolutions will do just that. That is, if you stick to them. What would you want to do? Well, I’m going to share with you what I’m going t do, and you can try it too!

First, I would like to get myself more active and involved with the society. As well as helping more with friends and family. I want to do this so I can open myself up more because it will help me become what I want to be, which is somewhere with the tourism industry. So it would be nice if you as well have the urge to get out there and lend a hand.

Secondly, I really need to cut down on my conflicts with my sisters and brother. Sometimes, I can even get really tempermental! I am also a Peer Mediator, which is a BAD EXAMPLE! Therefore, if I could slow down on arguing, I would. Even, if I have a problem with something that leaves me with an issue, I would give attitude. At times, they could be about the simplest of things. That’s a problem I would want to help.

Lastly, I want to make more new friends. Especially to associate with them and make others feel wanted. I like to meet new people. But I have to admit that it’s going to be a challenge because I’m shy at times. It really makes you and other people feel good inside to have made a new friend. Smiling is also contageous with me. I love to smile, but you may catch me at the wrong time. It’s cool to get to know the people around you. It can also let others know that you’re approchable.

I guess you can say that I’m shaping my life and getting prepared to work with the world. That’s exactly what I want to do. We would all want to live a comfortable and successful life. So get at it now. It’s a new year!

Why You Should Watch “The Outsiders”

Filed under: Blogroll — Alana C. at 4:44 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2007

Have you watched, or ever heard about The Outsiders? It’s a very interesting production! Although this book and movie is ASTONISHINGLY violent with spine~tingling scenes, it teaches you about teamwork, gangs, and a bit of how things were back in the 1980s. There were two packs-The Greasers and the Socs (socials)-who have conflicts because the Greasers were looking to belong in the world, and become something, while the Socs just added to the tension. Another conflict was their social ranking/class.

Throughout the movie you see how they rumble with fist-fighting, knives, guns, and other weapons to defeat one another. Back then, the Greasers were living through hard times. Young teens, I guess, were allowed to smoke and drink. They also murdered at one in the movie, and hid from the police. Shockingly, there was a scene when they were rewarded for saving students at a burning church!

Things like this don’t set a good example for today’s society, but helps us figure good from bad. It would show you what happens when you do this or that. It would be great to watch with your parents. The Outsiders is somewhat entertaining, and I would watch it anyday…with anyone. It would amuse and set emotions for any age. Rent or buy it today!
